I have to say, our Copco stainless steel coffee percolator is STILL going strong. It has also gotten us through bad winters, and this past fall, our first big ice storm, too. We were without power for almost 4 days, and still wanting my morning Joe, I was able to use the coffee pot to heat things up by the fire. Yet this experience taught me that we need a back-up pot! I have been looking at various models and have added this one to our wish list: Coleman Stainless Steel Percolator (12 Cup) The link is located in the sidebar of this blog page. Although this model may be a little larger than our current pot, I believe it will better serve us in an emergency prep situation such as the ice storm last fall that left us without electricity. Without a plastic or wodden handle, as some of the other models we include on this page, it will be able to withstand being used for longer periods over the open fire of a firepit or bar-b-que. I know that owning one of these will definitely increase our readiness for emergencies, but it will also take some getting used to as I will need to relearn the amounts of both water and coffee, and the amount of time it takes to make the perfect pot. That's okay, though. . .I am sure we will enjoy taste-testing all my experiments! Oh, and those batches that aren't quite right? Waste not, want not - they will end up in the freezer for summertime iced coffees! Enjoy!
